3 Tips For Cleaning Your Aluminum Wheel Rims

Tip #1 – Preparing Your Aluminum Wheel Rims for Cleaning

Wait until your car has cooled down don’t come home, jump out of the car and start cleaning the rims. The heat from the car running will suck up the water as soon as it hits the rims. If it’s a hot day you can also park your car in the shade for a while and if there is room, clean your wheel rims in the shady area.

Tip #2 – Choose Your Cleaner, Polish and Brush

There are numerous cleaners, polishes and brushes to choose from. Be sure to do some research and ask around before you purchase your items. If this is your first time cleaning the rims make sure you read the instructions on your products before getting to work. Always follow the instructions for the best possible outcome.

Tip #3 - Cleaning Your Aluminum Wheel Rims

First, rinse off your wheel rims with cool water or whatever comes out of your hose. This will help remove some of the dirt and grime.

Next, using the appropriate brush (never use steel wool or an abrasive brush as it can ruin your rims.) Following the instructions on your chosen cleaner scrub off any excess dirt and grime. Let dry.

Finally, polish the wheel rims. If you want it to last longer and look even better wait till the first coat of polish dries then apply a second coat.

The polish can also help reflect some of the dirt and grime you pick up while driving.
